Serving the Community through Missions

TurnerBatson was built on the values of passion, humility and excellence; and our team loves to put this into action by serving the community that we live and work in each day. The perfect opportunity to serve developed last month through Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church’s Preschool. Our firm designed the beautiful sanctuary nearly 50 years ago and we volunteered our services to help jump start a reinvigorated church congregation.
Since 1977, the preschool has provided quality education for children in a Christ-based setting. The care the children receive is extraordinary, but the facilities were tired and did not represent the quality of their program. That’s where our firm came into play.
Throughout the month of April, employees spent time painting, reorganizing and cleaning the school before, during and after hours in order to give students an all-new learning environment. The final product included fresh-colored walls, new seating, an updated welcome sign and innovative wall art of the church that our team designed using salvaged strips of floor tile.
“The school looks amazing! I wish I could express what an incredible gift this is for us. First impressions make such an impact, and this new look is huge! The teachers and I are completely blown away. We are so very grateful!” - Mary Liz Ingram, Preschool Director
This initiative was a great opportunity for our firm to collaborate and put our design skills to the test by giving back through a mission-based project. “As I was painting the church, a little girl came up to me and said ‘thank you for fixing my school — I really love it.’ That impact really meant a lot,” said Team Member, Mary-Claire Bennett.
We are so grateful that Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church’s Preschool allowed us the opportunity to give back to its students.
