The team at TURNERBATSON enjoyed an afternoon on the University of North Alabama’s new LaGrange Residence Hall construction site for the “Topping-Out” Event hosted by Fite Building Company. This moment marked the completion of the structural frame and previews the promise of what is to come — a vibrant, dynamic residence hall that will serve The University of North Alabama for years to come.
The new Lagrange Residence Hall is sited near where the old LaGrange Residence Hall once stood. The old hall had been unoccupied for several years before being taken down as part of the campus development. The new hall will provide a welcome oasis for students as they travel between the residential area to the north and the academic side to the south. It will feature a large plaza for students to gather, with outdoor seating, a fire pit, and green spaces. This plaza will also provide access to the relocated “Create” convenience store.
Scheduled to be completed in 2026, the six-story complex will be home to approximately 190 students.
“As we place the final truss on this building today, let’s think about what it represents,” said Project Architect Jamie Collins. “It’s not just steel and concrete; it symbolizes teamwork, creativity, and what we can achieve when we work together.”
In addition to raising the “last truss”, the contractor hosted lunch for the field crew, subcontractors, and representatives from University of North Alabama and TURNERBATSON, followed by door prize giveaways.
