Alabama Orthopedic, Spine & Sports Medicine Associates

The physicians at Alabama Orthopedic, Spine & Sports Medicine Associates (AOSSMA) are known throughout the Birmingham area for providing top-quality orthopedic care, rehabilitation, interventional spine treatments, and rheumatology. Having served families in Jefferson, St. Clair, and Blount counties for over 25 years, this group of specialists desired to expand their practice with a new location in the city of Trussville. TURNERBATSON met with the doctors at AOSSMA to develop their vision for a modern facility where patients can enjoy an all-inclusive treatment experience. The result was a two-story, 32,850-square-foot building that combines the latest in orthopedic treatment technology with an attractive aesthetic that complements the local fabric of the area.

The building’s architectural design combines a rugged stone, glass, and brick exterior with a modern interior employing cutting-edge medical technology in a welcoming environment. Inside, the practice offers a full spectrum of orthopedic care. In-suite imaging and diagnostic equipment includes MRI, CT, digital X-Ray, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy.

The spacious first floor lobby welcomes visitors with interactive touch-screen kiosks where patients can sign in and confirm appointments with their doctor. “Pods” of exam rooms are situated around scheduling stations that can be found easily throughout the main corridors thanks to efficient signage and wayfinding. An outpatient physical therapy center is also housed on the first floor, which keeps the doctor, patient, and physical therapists all in the same location to promote a more effective process for treatment and recovery. Patients also enjoy the convenience of going straight from their doctor to the first floor pharmacy to fill prescriptions.

Administrative offices, conference rooms, and a same-day procedure suite are located on the second floor. Following the success of the Trussville facility, TURNERBATSON completed a sister facility located in Hoover, AL.
