Ferus Artisan Ales is a 23,000 square foot warehouse redeveloped into a brewery, distillery, tasting room, event space, and retail areas. Located in the heart of downtown Trussville, Ferus is designed to be a catalyst of the city’s all-new entertainment district.

Inspired by nature and wild game, Ferus’ owners sought TURNERBATSON to design a building that “brings the outdoor feel indoors” and celebrates the wild and sour beer creations to be brewed. Existing building materials are complemented by raw metals and reclaimed wood to reinforce the natural theme.

The building’s interior unites the restaurant, tasting room, and event space. The use of natural elements, including a large tree sculpture, accentuate exterior design motifs and give the brewery a sophisticated yet approachable style. Large glass windows surround the building providing views of the adjacent stage and pavilion. Interior windows showcase views of the production and distillery rooms.

Ferus’ location will allow guests to enjoy other attractions inside of the entertainment district through large operable doors, an outdoor bar, and a walkable sidewalk connecting to the pedestrian area at the outdoor pavilion. The exterior is scheduled to be complete in the summer of 2020.
