Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Florence, Alabama, wanted to modernize their historic facility dating back to the 1950’s. With the help of TURNERBATSON and Rives Construction Company, Preston Health Services created a vision to design a service-first facility that is modern yet timeless.

The renovated 105,000 square foot building holds 222 beds allowing for long-term care and dedicated rehabilitation. The exterior of the building features a new drive-through canopy welcoming guests into the renovated lobby. The lobby’s interior displays modern and inviting tones with fresh color selections, new lighting, and a reception desk to greet visitors — all providing a hospitable atmosphere from the beginning.

New wayfinding graphics are displayed throughout the building to reflect the unique nature of the facility and to make traveling through the building much easier for residents and guests alike. Each wing within the center is individualized through revamped nurse stations, upgraded support services for smoother circulation of service and delivery traffic, and in-house laundry and dining services.

The rehabilitation suite also received an addition, which included a separate entrance and lobby space, and an interior facelift to enhance and enlarge social spaces, nurse stations, and the dining area.
