Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church

TURNERBATSON’s work on the oldest Baptist Church in the Buckhead section of Atlanta began with the preparation of a master plan and resulted in the commission of complete architectural and interior design services, including the development of a 3D model and computer animation.

Phase one construction was the renovation of the traditional four-story sanctuary building, including the worship center, music suite, classrooms, and a dynamic youth department.

Phase two was an addition that serves as the entry for both the existing Family Life Center and the Children’s Education Building. The children’s area has a large lobby, a check-in area, offices, and additional restrooms. The design includes an indoor play area and renovated exterior playgrounds. Nestled between two existing buildings, the addition provides continuous circulation throughout the entire campus.

Phase three involved the complete renovation of the four-story, 50,000-square-foot chapel building. This building contains the chapel, the fellowship hall, a commercial kitchen, administration space, and Christian education space for adults.
