After years of operating in a building initially designed to be a credit union, the 125 officers and staff of the UAB Police Department (UABPD) had outgrown their headquarters on 14^th Street South. In order to accommodate this growth and provide a modern space for police operations, UAB decided to build a new facility uniquely suited to meet the needs of the department. TURNERBATSON was chosen to provide the programming and design of the new UABPD Headquarters.

The new building is 28,000 square feet and includes office space, records storage, a communications center, a weight room, and locker rooms on the first floor. The second floor houses investigations and crime prevention, administrative offices, and a large training suite.

TURNERBATSON teamed with local engineering firms to complete this project, which opened in the summer of 2018.
