University of Alabama Ferguson Center

As the hub of a thriving, growing University of Alabama campus, the Ferguson Center underwent a significant expansion to better serve the student body and to present a more attractive presence within the campus fabric. TURNERBATSON completed a 250,000-square-foot expansion to the existing 1960’s vintage Ferguson Center in 2014. The renovated building now includes new entrances to better accommodate pedestrian traffic from the south and east sides, and newly finished interiors and greater gathering spaces offer a more welcoming experience for the student body. The new addition houses expanded food services, the Dean of Students office, SGA offices, Greek Life, meeting rooms, and a great hall for student gatherings, events, and receptions.

On the first floor of the Ferguson Center, the SUPe Store bookstore has been doubled in size and reconfigured to accommodate the growing need to offer more merchandise to students, staff, and visitors. The first floor also includes the largest campus-based Starbucks in the country.

The neoclassical design complements adjacent campus buildings and features large skylights, a “Great Hall” and “South Porch” for hosting events.
