TURNERBATSON is built on the values of people, passion, and purpose. Our team brings those values to life by actively serving the community where we live and work each day. “Building Culture Around Serving” is one of the seven core pillars highlighted in our 101 Series. This summer we had the perfect opportunity to put that pillar into action through a partnership with Jefferson County Schools at Grantswood Community School.
As the school prepared to welcome students back for the new year, our firm stepped in to support in a special way by working together to enhance the corridors with new painted railings, add accents of color in the lobby entrance, refresh the restrooms, and paint a mural in the cafeteria to celebrate the spirit of the school.
TURNERBATSON worked with Principal Darlene Douglas and Assistant Principal Courtney Staple to come up with ideas about how to revitalize and bring to life a few high traffic areas in the school. We wanted to focus on the school’s core value of being GREAT while keeping the atmosphere for learning fun and light. Adding touches of color throughout the lobby and hallways as well as adding a mural in the cafeteria was one way for all students to be able to enjoy all of the new touches.
“Being able to share our God-given abilities with the faculty and students at Grantwood Community School was so special, said TURNERBATSON Interior Designer Melissa Sones. “The staff was a joy to work with, and I could not help but leave this project filled with Gratitude.”
This initiative was a great opportunity for our firm to collaborate and put our design skills to the test by giving back through a mission-based project.
We are so grateful that Grantwood Community School allowed us the opportunity to give back to its students.
